How To Apply Labels to Tapered Products

APPLYING TAPERED LABELS 1

Hi everyone, my name is Jett, and I work here at JAG Alliance.

Today I’m going to show you the correct way to handle label our CBD Relief Salve, which is a bit trickier than labeling our standard bottles because of its shape.

And I’ll explain that here with this red pen I have as an example. This is one of our best sellers, our NAYSA Full Spectrum CBD gummy.

As you can see, when I take the pen and I line it up with the bottle, it’s flat and even. So, we we use this with our round label product machines and it labels really good. So, it’s really easy to set that up.

But with the salve, it’s a little bit trickier because it’s tapered.

See, when I take this pen here and I try to line it up evenly, there’s a gap right there at the bottom. You can see where the pen doesn’t touch the bottle. So, that’s why our labels we print and cut, they have this curve, kind of like a banana.

So, today I’m going to be showing two examples of how to label that. You can either use a rag or something around that could keep the bottle from rolling away tray. We have this extra labeling tray that we use. You can use that or you can use something to keep the product from rolling away. Like if you put it on this table and try to do it, it’s going to want to roll and it’ll just keep rolling. So, let’s go ahead and jump right into it.

So, I have a label here that we just take off our roll. And you just want to put the product there like that. And what I like to do is take the top of the label and kind of line it up with that line right there on the bottle. So you kind of want to keep it straight like you’re going to put it there. But then the bottom there’s too much white showing. So what I like to do takes a few tries. Put it like that. And as soon as the label sticks, it’ll stick in the center.

You want to pick it up and start pulling this way around back of the product. You can stick it back there. Then you want to grab this and pull it as well. Just slow like that. And boom. That was perfect. So at JAG, we like it when our products when these are really close to matching.

Sometimes they’re not all perfect because none of these bottles are actually the same. We were having this problem with our labeling machines and we actually sent these off to the company to test and no two bottles are alike. So this one actually might have more of a curve than this one. And when you set that up on a machine, it has to be perfectly calibrated. So some of them were going on wrinkly. So that’s why we like to do them by hand.

I’ll do another example here for you. I’m just going to take the label, just line the top middle kind of like in the middle of the label, like right here. Just kind of line that up with the top so it lines up with that line perfectly. Then just move it down a little bit and stick it. Let’s pull it around back. Yeah, that one’s good as well.

So, if you go to the grocery store or any Walmart stores, you’ll see that some of these are really crooked. But no two bottles are the same. And that’s how we do that.

For the next method, I’ll be showing you with our label tray. We do it like this. Grab the product, just put it on there. You can either find something at home to keep the bottle in like a rubber mat or tray or something like that. It’s not on a flat table where the product will roll. Just want to line it up just like that. Kind of come back up here.

See how I’m holding the label with my hand? Just pull stick. You just want to go slow because if you don’t, if you just do it really fast, there’s going to be bubbles and the label won’t stick all the way. Yeah, that one’s perfect.

So, that’s how we do it here at JAG.
